ITS-SIDS

Presenter: Brenda Drake, CCR&R Coordinator, TWPFC
July 9, 2024 ~ 6pm-8pm – Washington County Health Department
Cost: $5 – 2 CHC’s

This required training explains all the parts of North Carolina’s SIDS Law.  Participants will review information about when and how to use the approved waivers, how to best place a baby in bed to sleep, and other “Best Practices” recommendations.  During the workshop, participants will get the needed information to create a Safe Sleep Policy, updated research about SIDS, and local health and safety resources.  Participants also will be walked through how to do an unresponsive infant drill and the reason for doing them regularly.

This training is for directors and owners only!!!    Keeping records and files are vital part of running your child care center.  Like many of you, Mary Nixon has been in child care for over    years.  Mary will offer some tips on keeping files and records for your center and child care home.  Come out and let listen, share and accept tips and offer tips as directors, this night is for you!

BSAC ~ Basic School Age Care    PART I

Presenter: Tammy Culloms, Quality Enhancement Coordinator, Craven Smart Start
August 22, 2024 ~ 6pm-8:30pm – Washington County Health Department
Cost: $5 – 2.5 CHC’s.

BSAC is a 5-hour introductory level training for school age care professionals tht are new to the field.  This training includes the following modules: 1-Health, Safety & Nutrition, 2-Environmental Design, 3-Child/Youth Development, 4-Developmentally Appropriate Activties, 5-Guiding Child Behavior, and 6-Quality School Age Care.  This training is required by the North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education for school age care professionals working in licenced programs.

Effective Leadership Strategies

Presenter: Debbie Cooper, Child Care Education Services
October 8 and 9, 2024 ~ 6pm-8:30 pm  ~ Washington County Health Department
Cost: $30 – 3 CHC’s.  This is a 2-day training (1.5-hours each night)

This training will review what leadership is and how effective leaders deal with management issues and inspire their staff and team excel.  By the conclusion of this training, participants will understand their leadership type and will identify several strategies to become better leaders withing their role.

Emergency Preparedness and Response

November 18, 2024 ~ 6pm-8:30pm – Washington County Health Department

Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) in Child Care Training provides early educators with information and tools to prepare for many types of emergencies. The EPR in Child Care Training addresses NC Child Care Rules on emergencies preparedness, current best practice recommendations and guidance on completing the online EPR Plan.
